The Blues vs Harimau Malaya

I am such a snail!

Sorry if you're reading this and wondering why that is such a good idea to start a write-up.
I meant to say that I am so slow in updating my blog. I don't usually have the luxury time to update stuffs right after. I tend to hold the topic for a while, say, 1 day later, or maybe a week later. But I have a record of delaying my story-telling a month after! Major slow! Guess I'm gonna have to learn from Turbo the snail then.

Now here's the real story.

Last Sunday, was my mom's birthday! Also, my family and I went to the Chelsea vs Malaysia XI friendly match game at Shah Alam Stadium. My dad and sister is a hardcore fan of The Blues. My brother and I, on the other hand, the Red Devils. My mom? She supports any team that wins. Hahahaha. Watching football games in stadiums have been our family's favourite pastimes. But ever since we moved to Sabah, we stopped going for a while. Now that we're back in KL, we have got to start all over!

My sister was the first one who was so eager to get the tickets for The Blues. Her friends' dad's friend's friend (not sure how long the chain goes) were selling them. But my dad, being extra precaution about scammers, surveyed the tickets himself at several Adidas and TicketPro outlets.

Turns out, my sister was late in purchasing the tickets from her friend, which was later sold out. Instead, we bought our tickets at a TicketPro outlet in Sungai Wang. RM88. Pretty costly. There were cheaper seats for RM45, but watching the game from behind the goalpost? Not the best view ever. But paying RM408 nor RM308 is really that worth it, despite having the best view at the grandstand.

We sat at the purple zone. Upper tier.
So since I'm not a big fan of Chelsea. Why bother going?
For the sake of Jose Mourinho, Petr Cech and John Terry of course. *smirk*. My sister was head over heels on Lucas Piazon because of his cuteness. Whereas my mom was excited to know the man behind the name of Lukaku. hahahaha.

Here's the view from our seats.
It was a fun match to watch. Seeing Mourinho standing and watching his boys on the field. Exactly the way he is on TV! Rajagopal was a lil different than usual. This time, he was wearing a windbreaker! Hiding his usual white shirt he wears that symbolizes luck (according to some). Anyhow, every player played exceptionally well. Kudos to Amri Yahyah for playing so professionally well. At least that's how I see it. It's always him I see that plays really good. Why aren't there any international team importing him? Because of his seniority perhaps?

Final score: 4-1. Hey, at least we managed to break the 'chicken egg'. Plus, it's only a friendly match.

After the game, we had to walk a few kilometers to our car, where we parked outside the stadium compound. When we arrived earlier, the whole parking lot was already full. Plus, it'd be a lot hectic with traffics and having everyone exiting the car park all at once. So hence, we chose to park somewhere more tranquil (giteww).

It's been 9 years since I last came to Shah Alam Stadium.

Do you remember?

Hello?

Year 1997 onward. Remember Monophonic? Well, it's those squeaky non-vocal music tune on the cellphone, once upon a time. My first cellphone had this. It was a Nokia 6110 (left), a descendant from my mum, and previously from my dad. Then I changed my phone to Nokia 8210 (right), also a descendant from my dad. Still monophonic. Some monophonic phones have Composer. Remember Composer? Whereby you can key in music notes to form a music piece? Well, my two phones didn't have one. So I'd usually play Snakes. Remember Snakes? No? Too bad, you millennium kid~ The best part, is changing it's housing. I had various colored housing, even a Fido Dido version, and it only costs RM1.00. And, remember Infrared? It's a component alike bluetooth to transfer contacts, except you have to touch phone-to-phone at the Infrared port and the transfer will occur. If you accidentally distance the phone, the connection will be lost.

Year 2002 onward. Remember Polyphonic? Now this is an upgrade version of the monophonic phone. It's still non-vocal, but it has a better music tune. My first polyphonic phone was with Nokia 2650. Still no Composer. But yes, there's Snakes. Oh, the phone's revolutionizing, and it's colored screen! Those days, if you have a colored screen phone, you're cool man~ *whispers* Darn rich boy. Not that I'm rich, I bought mine late after everyone had one. And remember the time when you wanted to set a famous song tune into your phone as your ringtone, you had to download them from a magazine for RM2.00 each? There was no such thing as download from Internet back then.

Year 2007. Then I bought Nokia 5300, Music Express. Now this is what I call great music. Finally I can set my ringtone to Hips Don't Lie (Shakira ft. Wyclef Jean) with voice! And there's built-in camera too! And there's a USB cable to transfer pictures, musics and videos too! Ooh..I feel very edgy, very sophisticated now. And I'm able to play music (with external buttons) whilst texting or play Snakes!

Year 2009. Okay, I had enough fun with Nokia already. Let's try something new. So I bought Sony Ericsson K660i. And now, the Internet has gone viral in cellphones. My new phone has Internet! Now I can update my Facebook status easily. And look at the sleek design. The speakers are great. No doubt to Sony. And the camera has bigger megapixel.Although I sigh a lot because it didn't have a flash, but I was happy because it enables me to take candid photos in secret easily.

Year 2011. Oh oh, another revolution! It's the qwerty keyboards now! Thanks to my dad, he again descendant his Nokia E70 to me, and I descendant my SE K660i to my sister. The screen was larger, the body width was slimmer, and I can record videos with satisfaction. The camera was great. It took many sharp photos, provided you know the trick. Which is to focus on the object first, by touching the sensory button in the middle. Unfortunately, I do not know how to turn off the flash. I've checked everywhere! So whenever I wanted to take a photo without flashes, I'd have to manually cover the flash with my finger. Worse, I can no longer take candid photos in public places. It totally disciplined me.

Year 2013. No, this is not another year of another cell phone revolution. This is the year of my personal record. It's the touchscreens! Ooh..know what I got? The..err...wait for it....the....errr.... Samsung Note II! Know why I'm super excited?? Because I've been craving for the Note since Note I launchings. I drooled every time I see it's commercials on TV and newspaper. I envied the model for being so creative and designed so well that the photos can be transferred from one picture to another. Well now that I'm holding one, I'm super grateful.

Hmmm...I wonder what the next cellphone revolution will be? Touchscreens slide phones? Imagine Note II (actual size) but with extra slide screen to lengthen screen size. Or maybe touchscreens flip phones? Imagine Note II (actual size) that can be folded into two, yet functions like a full Note II when flipped open. Awesome~~~ Hmmm, what else?

Till then, Toodles~

*The years indicated above may not be the exact date of the revolution, but it's based on my personal experience.

Ramadhan is back!

Salam Ramadhan everyone! Oh aren't we grateful we still have another chance to come around another Ramadhan? Well I do.

And yeah...I am so excited I feel like crying~ Because why?

1. Slim down! Because I get to control myself from feeding on excessive drooling good food not just for my figure and health, but also for my tummy and extra meat. Yikes! Why are there just so many handsome and beautiful foods here and there? People like me, we like trying out new meals. Heh heh. The more unique it gets, the more tempting it is. Hey, I should get on Global Trekker or something. Ho ho ho.

Ramadhan teaches me to control my nafsu (lust/passion./appetite etc). Since I cannot eat in the daytime of Ramadhan, I not only teach myself to control my nafsu for eating, I also get to remind myself of the many people on Earth who are more unfortunate than me. Those who don't eat 5 times a day. Those who could not choose the many variety of foods on the restaurant menu. Also, those who have never visited big supermarkets to shop for groceries. Fasting helps me pull myself back to Earth and make me realize, of all the time I was complaining and moaning of not being able to get a Happy Meal cheeseburger (because the minion collections were out of stock) etc, I realize, there are people who couldn't even get a mouthful of plain white rice a day. They probably went a day without even eating anything! That is insane, for me. Masya-Allah, they survived. Why can't I? Now here's the time again for me to keep reminding myself this. To teach myself of the pain and hunger others are feeling. To be grateful with all the little things I have. Most importantly, to remember Allah the Almighty.

2. Terawikh prayer! It's once a year, so it's very special. I'd sometimes (errr..usually) pray at 8-rakaat only. Depends on what I eat during iftar. The heavier the meal, the minimal the chance of me praying at more than an 8-rakaat. Well, it's better than nothing eh? Besides, it's a sunat (not compulsory) prayer. And ooh..don't forget the moreh! Moreh feast is a form of supper held after Terawikh prayers. It's a social gathering where we sit down and have a cup of coffee/tea and a kuih. Usually contributed by an association or society, or even by a noble man, as an act of sadaqah.

I pray with the intention of knowing that it is a special prayer that doesn't come around any other time. I pray because I know that my pahala will increase, in sha Allah. And I pray because this is what my religion teaches me to do, and to have a blessing life.

3. The Ramadhan bazaar! Yet again, comes once a year. It's like a night market selling variety of food and drinks for iftar. Roasted chicken wings, murtabak, briyani rice and the list goes on. Not to mention the many varieties of kuih-muih and drinks. When I was studying in Sarawak, I had the chance to fast there. The bazaar was right behind our campus, so it was easy for us to look for food. What's unique there was umai, nasi ayam penyet, mee kolok, laksa Sarawak,  and there were also many types of kek lapis Sarawak. We don't usually get them here in KL. When I lived in Sabah, the bazaar was quite far from campus. Despite having our college all the way uphill, and the bazaar was right downhill at the campus main gate. Usually, we'd just car pool our friends' to the bazaar. What's unique there was.. manuk! It's roasted chicken wings. Sabah is famously known for this. Then there's umai, seaweed kerabu, latok, jelurut, sanggar cheese and the list goes on. When I was studying in Terengganu, the specialty there was nasi kerabu, nasi dagang, laksa Terengganu, laksam, akok, lompat tikam, air batu jagung (ABJ), satar, roti paung, and many many more. Oh, I miss those days living outside KL.

Unfortunately, what with all the variety of food and drinks at the bazaar, it can sometimes lead us to being greedy. With an empty stomach, bracing yourself from hunger, and seeing all the foods before your eyes, you  tend to buy more than you actually need. This misleading action indicates you cannot control your nafsu well enough. Eventually, there will be leftovers. It would be fine if you can actually finish the food later on after terawikh prayers, or bring it to sahur. What if you can't? The next day, you go to the bazaar again, and add on leftovers in your refrigerator. Which will result in the bin later on. Wasting is an act of disapproval in Islam. So let's not waste eh? I know it's very tempting cuz it is for me too. But tell yourself all the time, buy what we need, not what we want.

4. Syawal is getting near! Oh, I can hear the Raya song in my head already~ Haven't thought of what colour of baju Raya to wear this year. How many should I buy? What type of baju should I buy? Oh wait! I just remembered. Now that I already have a job, I'm gonna have to buy my own clothes now. No more PaMa allowances. Boohoohoo~ And this is my first year to give out duit Raya to kids! Pssst kids, RM1 is enough right? It's the thought that matters. Hahahaha.

Hey hey hey, sure Raya is around the corner, but again, do not be greedy! Buy what's necessary, leave out the nafsu. Buy according to what you can afford. And try to avoid those super expensive clothes. Some are relevant to the price, and some are not. Be wise people. And if you have clothes that you no longer want to wear, or can no longer fit in, go donate! Give them to charity. After all, this is the month of Ramadhan. All the deeds we make will multiple in pahala, in sha Allah.

Today is Day 2 of Ramadhan already. Suddenly the thought of my late granddad comes back to memory. I miss you, Atuk.
